Julie cherishes the gifts of learners at all ages and appreciates the value of all humans having brave spaces to explore identity, values and relationships.

Raised in rural Wisconsin, Julie spent much of her childhood playing within the nearby woods, creeks and farms. Balancing rest, joy, work and the challenges in life is a priority. Julie enjoys reading, baking, meditation, mindful movement, gardening, walks, hiking and being in nature. Julie lives with her husband and musician Brady Grey and their fur-babies on the traditional lands of the Akimel O'odham (Pima), Piipaash (Maricopa), and Yavapai people near Phoenix, Arizona. They have hearts of global travelers and find joy exploring natural areas, parks, art, museums, food and music venues. Julie deeply appreciates the importance of self discovery, awareness and authentic relationships. She seeks to live in peace and harmony with all and views her journey through a lens of a lifelong learner.

Julie’s career, personal experiences and beliefs about the intersections of peace, justice, literacy and social emotional anchor her vision of evolving our educational systems. She is dedicated to mainstreaming peace and justice education in preK-12 schools and learning spaces.  As the children who engage in peace actions and pursuits grow older, they will go on to positively impact their families, communities, environments, as well as systems and structures throughout our world.  Julie feels humbled to help foster these gifts, that overtime, will bring about just, positive peace in our world.
